Your CCA Membership Benefits

Legislative Advocacy , Leadership Training, and Up-to-date Info

By far, one of the biggest benefits of your investment in this wonderful profession is advocacy efforts needed at the state and national level. The CCA advocates on your behalf through its Executive Director, Public Policy and Legislative Committee, the 50+ members making up the Governing Council, and through our new contract Lobbyist, Miles Consulting, shared by the NASWCO.

Our members benefit from this professional advocacy at local, state, and national levels. For those members desiring to get involved, the CCA organizes an annual Lobby Day as well as a State Institute of Leadership Training to educate and empower members for advocacy of mental health issues right here in Colorado. We also send governing council executive members to the ACA Leadership Institute to lobby for professional counselors on Washington D.C. Capitol Hill. The CCA members have access to regular updates on what is happening in state mental health related legislation via our Members Only Legislative Newsletter.

Educational Opportunities

There are a variety of educational opportunities provided through the CCA. Members have access to these opportunities at significantly reduced rates. Join us at the Fall Ethics Event, State Institute of Leadership Training, Disaster Red Cross Training, Pre-Conference Trainings, or at the highly anticipated 2016 Colorado Mental Health Professionals Conference.

Professional Resources

Professional identity as a counselor is promoted by the CCA and our parent organization, the ACA. The CCA is the 4th largest state branch in the country. State membership allows you to become involved locally – YOU may directly impact the happenings in Colorado’s counseling profession. Find opportunities for networking and leadership in the counseling profession by joining the CCA governing council.
