Who We Are

The Colorado Counseling Association (CCA) is an active state branch of the American Counseling Association and one of the nation's leading professional membership organizations in the field of mental health. As the unified voice for professional counselors across Colorado, we bring together practitioners from diverse settings and specialties to advance the counseling profession and improve access to quality mental health care for all Coloradans.
Our organization was established to address the unique challenges and opportunities facing counselors in Colorado. We recognized that while national organizations provide essential leadership for the profession, state-level associations are critical for addressing licensure issues, legislative concerns, professional development needs, and building local professional communities. The CCA serves as the bridge between individual practitioners and the systems that shape their work, ensuring that counselors have the support, resources, and advocacy they need to serve their clients effectively.

Our Mission and Purpose

The CCA is driven by a distinctive three-part mission that sets us apart: to empower, equip, and advocate for professional counselors in Colorado.
We empower counselors by creating pathways for professional growth, leadership development, and meaningful connections within the counseling community. Through our volunteer-driven structure, we provide opportunities for counselors to shape the future of the profession while developing their own skills and influence.
We equip counselors with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to provide excellent care. From continuing education programs to clinical resources and best practice guidance, we ensure that Colorado counselors have access to high-quality professional development throughout their careers.
We advocate tirelessly for policies and practices that strengthen the counseling profession and expand access to mental health services. Our legislative efforts have fundamentally shaped counseling practice in Colorado, and we continue to represent the interests of counselors and their clients in policy discussions at every level.
This mission reflects our commitment not only to supporting individual counselors but to advancing the profession as a whole and ultimately improving mental health outcomes for everyone in Colorado.
