Jurisprudence Prep Class

Event Overview

The Jurisprudence exam is a required piece of the licensure application process. This preparatory course is intended to provide you with knowledge about the structure and format of the exam and the content addressed in the exam. This prep class does not review the content itself, as this is an “open book” exam, but it outlines what will be covered on the exam and what resources you will need to find the answers to the exam questions. The Jurisprudence exam is separate from the licensure exam and does not address your knowledge of theory and practice as related to the provision of mental health services, instead this exam assesses your knowledge of the state specific statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and codes of ethics that inform your practice and regulate your license. This prep class will help you access the resources you need to review for the exam, provide guidance on how to study and prepare for the exam- including addressing key content areas to focus on, and how to facilitate taking the exam itself. This prep class also utilizes a few sample questions from a retired exam to illustrate what to expect while taking this exam. This prep class also addresses why your knowledge of the laws and ethics that regulate your practice are so critical for both you and for DORA.

Your course instructor, Kerry Broman, LCSW maintains both a private practice and works with Robert A. Lees and Associates, a local law firm with an excellent reputation for representing the interests of mental health professionals practicing in the State of Colorado. This prep class pulls from Kerry’s knowledge and experience accrued in both facets of her work. Kerry uses humor and case examples to make the course content as engaging as possible.
