| MCS is a new organization serving the seven-county metropolitan Denver area. Our purpose is to provide 24/7/365 access to mental health and substance abuse services for people in crisis. The organization’s start-up will occur in phases over the next two years. Crisis Clinicians who are hired now will work in the call center, operating the “crisis line.” Posistions Will be posted continuously. No cut-off date. Laughing and playing with some of the best children in town (guaranteed to lift your spirits)! 24/7 Kids, Inc. is a respite program for families with children with disabilities - the only one in Greeley, CO. Any volunteer time is appreciated, as this program is run solely on the hearts of volunteers (cheesy but true!). They provide specialized childcare services for these families, offering parents and/or caretakers a night of respite. This allows parents to experience a block of time to utilize however they wish, as a break from the ongoing responsibilities of caring for their child(ren). 24/7 Kids, Inc. is trying to establish themselves and get a footing so that they can begin to provide more regular respite nights, eventually providing ongoing service (currently they can only provide services once/month). Pro Bono Outreach Program - Volunteers Needed! | |
| Your help is needed! Please consider giving back to the community by sharing your time and expertise to provide free care to underserved adults, older adults, and children & families. Since 1986, Mental Health America of Colorado's (MHAC) Pro Bono Outreach Program has coordinated the donated mental health services of licensed mental health professionals and Masters and PhD-level candidates for licensure, at over 30 community host sites that serve low-income and homeless populations. Community host sites are agencies (nonprofit organizations & schools) that either have limited or no, mental health resources for their clients. Mental health services include, but are not limited to: individual, family, and/or group counseling, program and/or case consultation with host site staff, supervision of Masters and PhD level candidates for licensure who are volunteering through the Pro Bono Outreach Program. Juvenile Justice Outreach Worker | |

The Juvenile Justice Outreach Worker is responsible for providing case management and support to gang-involved youth who are also involved with Denver juvenile justice agencies. Agencies include state and city probation and diversion. The Outreach worker functions as a team member of the steering committee designed to oversee comprehensive services for gang-involved youth and their families. The Outreach Worker is supervised by the GRASP Program Director who also serves as the Outreach Coordinator for the Comprehensive Gang Model (CGM). This is a full-time, one-year position starting late May 2009. Salary: $32,000 plus benefits.
General Knowledge: Position requires knowledge of community resources and neighborhoods and the ability to network and organize diverse grass-root stakeholders. This position focuses on youth residing in South West Denver neighborhoods. Outreach Worker must have: knowledge and experience with street outreach; personal knowledge of community mobilization and gang systems; and ability to work with gang-involved youth, parents and community members. If applicant has had a personal involvement in gang systems, must be able to substantiate “gang abstinence” for a minimum of two years. Requires knowledge of juvenile justice, youth development, quality youth intervention and treatment, and substance abuse treatment resources. Must be able to work with and navigate diverse communities, populations and systems.
Position requires working as a team member of both the juvenile justice steering committee and The GRID Outreach Team. Minimum Requirements: - Demonstrated history of job accountability - High School Diploma or equivalent - Demonstrated community mobilization experience in diverse communities - Computer skills – word, outlook, excel, etc. - Must have a good driving record and proof of automobile insurance - Good writing skills
Preferred Qualifications: Education: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related field. Experience: Three years of working with youth including case management, gang-specific intervention preferred. Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements. Bi lingual (Spanish/English)
