Six Week Training for Building Skills Using ACT

Presenters:

Brenda Bomgardner, MA, NCC, BCC
&
Christine Allison, MA, LPC, NCC

This 6-week training and consultation group for therapists will cover the six core processes of ACT - a contextually focused model of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy that uses mindfulness and behavioral activation to increase clients' Psychological flexibility.

Empirical evidence demonstrates ACT's effectiveness in treating a wide range of disorders, from anxiety, depression, and PTSD, to chronic pain, eating disorders and substance abuse.  Effective with individuals, couples and groups, ACT helps clients to live in the present moment, connect with their values, and effectively handle painful thoughts, feelings, memories, sensations and urges.

Thursdays 11 am - 1 pm

                   Functional Contextualism
*January 24: Creative Hopelessness and
   Experiential Avoidance
*January 31: Defusion and Case Conceptualization
*February 7: Self as Context and Mindfulness
*February 14: Values and Committed Action
*February 21: The Matrix
