AAMFT Approved Supervision Course Offered
Summer 2013
MFT 697 Supervision in Marriage and Family Therapy
MFT697 Supervision in Marriage and Family Therapy is an AAMFT Approved Supervision course which meets the 30 hour fundamental course requirement to become an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. This course covers conceptual/theoretical approaches to supervision, and supervised practice in couples and family therapy. The course will give post-master's clinical counseling practitioners valuable information about clinical supervision. Participants will learn conceptual approaches to supervision, methods, ethical and legal issues, and evaluation of supervisees in mental health settings. Clinicians must meet AAMFT clinical requirements to become Approved Supervisors.
Community counseling agency site supervisors and supervising faculty are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to advance their skills in clinical supervision and start working to become AAMFT Approved Supervisors. Regis faculty who have taken a supervision course will receive priority in teaching assignments for clinical courses. We will steer internship students to sites where the clinical supervisors have had advanced training in supervision (particularly MFT students who will prefer to work with AAMFT Approved Supervisors).
